Are you a boater? Someone interested in BC’s marine life? This is for you.
Join us for a free presentation on Humpback Whales by Marine Education and Research Society (MERS) researcher Jackie Hildering.
In addition to sharing MERS’ research on Humpback feeding strategies and rate of entanglement, Jackie will discuss how the fortunate return of these giants from the brink of extinction necessitates increased boater awareness about avoiding collision and what to do if entanglement is witnessed.
Now based on NE Vancouver Island, Jackie was raised in Squamish. As an educator, cold water diver and underwater photographer, she is known as “The Marine Detective”. On-camera experience includes being featured on Animal Planet’s “Wild Obsession” series and in the BBC productions “New threat to Canada’s Pacific Humpback Whales?” and “Ingenious Animals”. She has been referenced as the stand up comic of marine conservation whereby this event indeed promises to be informative and entertaining!
Doors open at 6:30 PM. Program begins at 7:00 PM.
Location Quest University; Multi-Purpose Room; 3200 University Boulevard, Squamish.
Hosted by: The Squamish Yacht Club, Quest University Canada, and The Future of Howe Sound Society.
