Board Chair’s Update for the Alumni Community
Dear Quest Alumni,
When Quest was first imagined, it was a rare opportunity to build a university centered entirely on the student experience. We are writing to share how we are preserving this legacy through a new partnership that honours these founding principles.
Following a formal vote on March 4, the members of Columbia College in Vancouver have approved a special resolution to proceed with a merger with Quest University. This brings together two non-profit, charitable institutions to introduce B.C.’s newest university. The University will have a new name but remain governed by the Sea-to-Sky University Act.
A Partnership Built on Shared Values
For nearly 20 years, Quest stood as Canada’s first and only secular non-profit liberal arts and sciences university. In seeking a path forward, it was essential to find a partner that respects that distinction.
Columbia College brings a 90-year history as one of Canada’s longest-serving non-profit colleges. By uniting our two institutions, we are better positioned to expand access to the kind of innovative education you experienced at Quest, creating a resilient institution that remains true to its charitable roots while responding to the world’s evolving needs.
What This Means for the Quest Community
This merger represents a commitment to the long-term sustainability of the Quest model. By combining Columbia’s nine-decade legacy with Quest’s unique approach to education, we are creating a stable foundation that protects our academic vision. Crucially, the new university will continue to offer the Bachelor of Arts and Science degree, maintained with the same learning goals and outcomes as originally intended.
Call for Alumni Involvement
As we build this new chapter, it is vital that the voice of our alumni is represented at the highest level of leadership. In the coming months, we will be opening nominations for an Alumni Representative to join the Board of Governors. Through this nomination process, the Board of Governors will vote to select its newest member.
Additionally, we would like to organize working sessions with interested alumni to help maintain the legacy of Quest University Canada within this merged organization.

Transcript Requests
Quest University transcript requests must be submitted to Capilano University. Capilano University will be housing these records for the next 55 years, as required by the Provincial Government. Capilano University cannot change, alter or update any information on student records (including legal name, grade, or program).
To request a Quest transcript students can download the application from Capilano University Transcripts and Forms webpage under ‘Quest University Official Transcript Requests’, complete in full and submit to registration@capilanou.ca. There are no fees associated with a transcript request.
