Memory and history are both contested terms. Memory can be both personal and social, and both may be partial, incomplete, or constructed. History, as the validated form of social memory, is also affected by choice and judgment. What are the accounts that have formed in this place?  How should we understand them, particularly as they account for the interactions of Indigenous people and others?
