Artist Talk: Painting as thinking; Painting as conversation
Alison Shields is an artist and art educator living in Vancouver, British Columbia. She has a Masters of Fine Arts from the University of Waterloo and is a PhD Candidate at the University of British Columbia. Through her doctoral research, she has travelled across Canada interviewing over 125 artists (specifically painters) in their studios. In this presentation, Alison will weave together discussion of her own art making trajectory with those described in her studio visits to explore creative processes, studio practices and ways of thinking that emerge through art making.
