Ligia’s Question: What is normal?
Keystone Title: Maps to Nowhere
Abstract: Maps to Nowhere is a piece of literature and a mixture of theory and practice, academic and creative writing, English and non-English language, arts and sciences. Batista examines concepts of normality and difference with a focus in sociocultural and medical constructs of normal. The written work, inspired by Sylvia Plath’s confessional poetry and semi-autobiographical work, can be seen as a collage of different stories, subjects, and trains of thought in the form of a diary of the literary persona Batista created.
