Byron Essert, LEAP
Byron Essert is a skateboarder born and raised in Piedmont, California. In Spanish, pie de monte means foothills, so one might say he grew up in the perfect place to learn how to bomb down hills on a board with four wheels. It was in Piedmont that Byron found his passion for longboarding. The naturally sloping environment fueled his love for gravity-powered sports. He enjoys any activity that involves a board: skateboarding to surfboarding to snowboarding.
Byron started skateboarding at the age of 10, and by age 13, he knew he wanted to be a professional skateboarder. He continued to compete and travel to different downhill events, collecting sponsorships along the way as he improved. By the time he turned 17, his dreams were coming true. Byron was being flown internationally to compete in downhill skateboard competitions in many different destinations, including Norway, France, Colombia, New Zealand and more. Byron is excited to see where his nomadic skateboarding lifestyle leads him to next.
