Quest is a new, private, not-for-profit university located in Squamish, British Columbia, half-way between Vancouver and Whistler. We emphasize high-quality liberal arts and sciences teaching in a collegial setting without traditional departments.

We look for candidates who are innovative, flexible, excellent teachers capable of developing interdisciplinary, seminar-style courses. Successful candidates are also expected to teach introductory and intermediate courses in their own fields. We prefer candidates who can teach the areas suggested in the job advertisement, but research field is open.

Other duties include student advising, recruitment, and university service. The PhD is required by the beginning of the contract date; the preferred start date is August 1, 2015. Quest operates on a block (one course at a time) teaching system, and the teaching schedule for this position is six blocks per year.

We have neither faculty ranks nor tenure; all full-time faculty members are offered renewable contracts and hold equal rank. We are strongly committed to principles of academic freedom. While we offer moral, intellectual, and some financial support for the research interests of our faculty members, if you are interested primarily in a traditional academic career focused on research, please do not apply for this position.

Quest University Canada is a diverse community with students representing over 40 different countries, a range of ethnic and religious identities, sexual orientations, and we seek candidates who will help us further the goal of making Quest an inclusive campus. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. Quest University Canada is strongly committed to employment equity and welcomes applications from all qualified women and men, including visible minorities, Aboriginal people and persons with disabilities. Short-listed candidates may be asked for their consent to obtain verification of their job qualifications from the relevant institutions and persons; they may also be asked for their consent to allow Quest to speak to past and present employment or academic supervisors.

In the interest of fairness, we normally do not meet with candidates for jobs until the committee has compiled its short list. Prospective candidates for the positions described in the linked pages are asked to note that an offer of employment at Quest will reflect terms and conditions which are consistent with and limited to the parameters set out in those postings and the applicable policies of Quest. Successful candidates for our positions should, therefore, expect to receive an offer which reflects and is limited to those terms and conditions.

We recognize that you might well have legitimate questions about how we operate – and we do not operate as other universities do. You can find information about our courses and policies in our Course Calendar and our Academic Calendar. The people below will be happy to answer any specific questions you have about our program or about specific courses in the relevant division. The public is always welcome to visit our campus, eat at the cafeteria, and enjoy our spectacular mountain views.
