8 / STUDENTS’ REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL
Student body representation is an essential part of creating a university and community that works together to accomplish its goals. At Quest, the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) is the organization that unites and supports students in all areas of interest. Founded as part of a class project during Quest’s inaugural year, the SRC has evolved to become THE voice of the students on campus. Check out the SRC website for a list of clubs, meeting minutes, and executive member bios. You can also check out this blog by a current SRC executive member explaining all the amazing work that they do!
This past year, the SRC has also organized various conferences and student discussion panels to engage in current issues facing our community and world. The SRC acts not only as a body to represent student interests in the Quest community, Squamish community, and to the university administration, but also as a source of funding for student initiatives. With a sizeable budget, the SRC is able to fund club activities, shuttles, infrastructure projects on campus, and even large events such as the Dancing Bear Music Festival, the recording studio, and the community garden – the SRC provides both financial and logistical support to all sorts of student initiatives, big and small.
