COMMUNITY LIVING

Living in a community is an integral part of the Quest experience. As such, students live on campus for all four years of their undergraduate degree. Our residences provide students with a variety of living options.

In contrast to the traditional Don and Residence Advisor structures, each residence has a number of senior students who are elected by their peers to be leaders in the residence community. These members of the Residence Council, or “Floor Reps”, work with students to coordinate activities, offer support, and foster an atmosphere of community. Additionally, our residence community also has full-time staff members, called Village Advisors, who live in the buildings, as well as faculty members who are part of our Faculty-in-Residence program.

Students are responsible for creating and maintaining a respectful and community minded living environment. Students abide by Community Living Guidelines that protect the comfort and safety of all students.

RESIDENCE STYLES

Located 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver, Squamish is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after places to live. An awe-inspiring location, combined with a highly-productive population, has resulted in a growing community that embraces continual transformation and development. Our unique campus currently has 6 residence buildings, in 3 different styles.

Our two newest residences, Ossa and Red Tusk are primarily comprised of pairs of single rooms connected by shared bathrooms. A common study room and a minimum of one common kitchen are located on each floor. Other amenities in these buildings include bike storage rooms, card-operated laundry facilities, a recording studio, a yoga studio, arts studios, and a dance studio.

These two buildings are comprised of condo-style units, typically with two bedrooms and two bathrooms per unit. Each condo also has a living room and kitchenette. Each building has a large balcony accessible to all students, card-operated laundry facilities, underground reserved parking, limited storage lockers, and a common kitchen.

MEAL PLAN

Eating in the Quest cafeteria students can enjoy some of the best views in Squamish through the floor to ceiling windows, or on one of the spacious balconies facing the Tantalus mountain range. All food services on campus are provided by Dana Hospitality. There is cafeteria style dining that serves a variety of options including hearty sandwiches, grill options, fresh specials, salad bar and much more. The Atrium café provides a raw food program, made to order smoothies, specialty coffees and great gluten free desserts. On campus there are plenty of food choices from comfort food to healthy eating. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options are available. Most students living in residence subscribe to a meal plan, in some amount. Incoming students, typically living in North, South, Ossa or Red Tusk, are required to have a Full Meal Plan for their first eight blocks at Quest. The meal plan is administered using the student’s ID card, and functions like a debit card. Students may purchase as much food as they wish, but should manage their budget to ensure they have sufficient funds for each full term.

PARKING & STORAGE

In order to park on campus, students must register their vehicle and purchase a pass. To park in one of our outdoor, non-reserved lots, the cost is $35 per term. There are four underground reserved lots available, at a cost of $75 per term.

Storage lockers are available in some of our residence buildings. These are available on a limited basis for a small fee. Applications for lockers are completed at the beginning of the Fall term, as well as prior to the Summer term. Students must supply their own lock for the unit and are strongly encouraged to purchase their own contents insurance for their belongings, as Quest is not responsible for any damage or theft of belongings in condos or storage units at any time.

MOVE-IN & MOVE-OUT

Incoming students typically arrive on campus three days in advance of their first classes for an orientation period. During the orientation, students learn more about campus life and participate in activities that facilitate community building. Before arriving at Quest, students will have the opportunity to participate in informational webinars that familiarize students with staff, policies, and procedures.

In the Fall term, returning students normally return one or two days before their first class.

Over the winter break, the residence buildings are closed. Students may leave their items in residence, but must vacate their suites for the designated period of time, usually beginning one day after their last class of the Fall term.

At the conclusion of the Spring term, students have one day following graduation to clean and move out of their residence condos.  The deadline for move-out is typically two to three days after a student’s final class.

Students should take care to return their keys and leave their condos clean and damage free, as to not accrue additional charges.
