Rocks, Chemistry, & Murder Mysteries: the Process and Theory of Constructing a Forensic Geochemistry Lab Manual
Mentor: Dr. Emma Davy
How can constructing forensic geochemical experiments enhance student experiential and interdisciplinary thinking and learning?  In this presentation, I discuss the process and theory behind designing a geochemical lab manual for a forensic geochemistry course offered at Quest University.  I showcase the benefits of creativity in lab design, and teaching and learning across disciplines.  I consider my position as both student and educator, reflecting on the importance of interdisciplinary, experiential, and creative methods of teaching.  I argue these approaches make learning engaging and are an essential part of a holistic education by preparing students beyond school and into their careers.
