Connecting to Calm
Mentor: Maï Yasué
Does connection to nature, self and others have tangible emotional benefits and are there low barrier ways to reap them? This work spans biology, human ecology and psychology, and operates in support of traditional knowledge. I was inspired by the scholarship of social-ecological resilience, where connectivity between and across scales increases resilience of systems. Acknowledging humans as embedded aspects of the ecological web, a potential to improve resilience in a multitude of directions emerged through personal webs of connection. Appealing to the individual, I share stress-reduction, connection-based activities I have both researched and practiced, and their benefits.
