Living in the digital age, video games have employed many monetization tactics within their design. Such games are appealing to children and even adults. One particular popular genre has risen in the past decade, called Gacha games. These games employ a system in which you pay money for in game items through chance. Many would argue that Gacha games are a form of gambling. In my keystone I explore the ethics of whether or not Gacha games could be deemed detrimental to an individual’s life. The analysis explores the profit driven designs within Gacha games, as well as the consequent effects on players.
