How can we cultivate connection to ourselves, nature, and our community? Disconnection from our sense of self, the natural world, and each other has been shown to create physical, mental, emotional, and societal problems; empirical data suggests this sense of disconnection has been increasing in our Westernized world. This three part keystone explores how individuals find connection through a literature review of philosophical, psychological, indigenous views, and scientific research, a deep dive into four case studies on Indigenous perspectives on how we connect to community, and a documentary exploring what connection means and how individuals connect, featuring perspectives from participants and facilitators of an ancestral skills course and a traditional Aztec ceremony. I encourage everyone to ask themselves what connects them, and to consider what deepening these connections could mean in their lives.
