I focused my Keystone on detailing the ideology, history and tactics of the Alt-Right’s presence online. I argue that the seemingly trivial harassment campaign known as “GamerGate” in 2014 awoke the proverbial sleeping giant. Giving the Alt-Right the numbers, the popularity and the political strategy to get into the White House and beyond. To understand how this could have occurred, we must first answer the question “What is Gamer Gate”? Finding that yes, GamerGate was and continues to be a harassment campaign, but also worked as an indoctrination into the Alt-Right. And because GamerGate worked so well in expanding the Alt-Right, the strategies employed there have been retried again and again.
