Packaging the Sun: In Pursuit of Fusion Energy
Mentor: Dr. Andrew Hamilton
Climate change has become one of the most pressing issues of our time and finding clean energy sources is an essential part of our response. Nuclear fusion is the reaction that occurs in our Sun to produce heat and light and has the potential to be used for energy production. The fuel is abundant and the reaction produces no greenhouse gases. So why isn’t fusion energy available on the grid yet? And what exactly is fusion? In this presentation, I explore these questions and discuss why fusion energy is such a difficult, but important, goal.
