The Squamish Suite is an eight-movement piece for solo piano that paints a portrait of Squamish, its cultures, and my personal feelings about it. This presentation provides an overview of the piece and what I am trying to say with it, exploring several of the musical themes in the piece, and exploring how we can use music communicate place, how a composer’s ideas and feelings can be translated into a piece of music, and what techniques we can use to successfully achieve these goals.
