How do we design spaces for the people who use them? Rooted in environmental psychology and Human Centred Design (HCD), this keystone explores the process of designing public spaces for community needs. I examine a design thinking model as well as the potential impacts and importance of prioritizing community needs through design. This project attempts to design a parklet based on the needs of the Squamish community in order to stand as an example that the principles and research from HCD and environmental psychology can be used at any scale of design. My presentation overviews the current project’s process, struggles and future implementation.
