How do we build to suit the geologic landscape? Structures must address their landscape to withstand, preserve, or display geologic features or hazards. This project examines how geology can inform development choices, while showing its destructive potential. It was found that effectiveness of architectural designs depended on the structure’s purpose, and the type of surrounding hazards. This emphasized the importance of understanding the local geology and addressing the features that affect the goals and purpose of new buildings. This research shows the potential for designs to address and inform about changes within ongoing geologic processes.
