How can we understand serial killers? I explored this question using the fields of psychology and fiction writing. Serial killers have become increasingly present in the media. But there is a disconnect between the fascination with serial killers and the knowledge of why they kill. In this presentation, I examine sections of my novella, analyzing the choices I made using a psychology lens. In doing so, I open a conversation on serial killers. Serial killers have been characterized as monsters, bad people. Through this project, I endeavor to bring some understanding to the conversation through a new perspective.
