Who Will Remember If We Don’t?: Institutional Memory and the Small University Archive
Mentor: Jamie Kemp
How do we learn through story? Through the discipline of archival studies, I approach this question by examining the subjectivities at play in the development of archival collections, and the way that communities engage with these curations. Quest’s current archive, the David Strangway Memorial Archive, was founded in 2019 and is just beginning to tell the story of the already 13-year-old institution. Though archival initiatives have always existed at the school, they have not been completely supported by the institution. Because of this, the collection currently exists in a precarious state without clear governing authority or structure. In my Keystone, I argue that the Quest Archive requires a set of policies and procedures in order to effectively protect the history of the institution. |
