City of Pollinators: Urban Gardens for Conservation and Education
Mentor: Dr. Marjorie Wonham
How do interspecific mutualism manifest and evolve? For urban pollinator ecologists, this is a question of how the variation in urban biotic and abiotic characteristics of a city influence the composition and behavior of pollinator communities within those environments. Understanding the factors that influence which pollinators survive in urban environments, and under what conditions, is crucial for the conservation of globally declining pollinator populations that are losing habitat to urbanization. Join us for an audio investigation of how small-scale habitat creation can have significant positive conservation impacts for the diversity and abundance of urban pollinators, in Squamish and beyond.
