Something Strange in these Waters: A critical Look into Salmon Management in B.C.
Mentor: Dr. Maï Yasué
| What’s so slippery about the salmon fishery? With five iconic species, Pacific salmon play an integral role in the ecology, culture, and economy of what is now called British Columbia. As their populations and health continue to decline, and the impact of their neglect continues to impact coastal communities, evaluating the management of human interaction with this species is paramount. In this presentation, we will critique the current management scheme of the salmon fishery in British Columbia, to identify management failures which I argue are symptomatic of a more fundamental flaw. |
