Fiction and Nature: How Stories are Key to Solving the Environmental Crisis

| What is the role of fiction in sustaining biodiversity? We all know that the world is facing great environmental issues, such as climate change and biodiversity loss. However, little has been done to solve these catastrophic problems, in part due to a failure to galvanize the public. This presentation explores how fiction can develop an environmentally conscious reader, and thus help tackle the environmental problems we face today. Specifically, I will explain how the values developed through reading fiction can translate into individuals undertaking more ecologically friendly actions. |
