Coloured compounds are of tremendous interest to chemists. While these compounds have traditional applications to the field of textiles, recent research has focused on utilizing these dyes in dye-sensitized solar cells as an alternative to the current solar technology. This talk will focus on the indigoid family of dyes (include the blue denim dye, indigo), modifications to their structure, and their applications to materials science.
