Martin Lentz, LEAP

Martin is an elite skier from New Mexico. His academic focus is on environmental science and public policy.

When he was 18 months old, his family moved to the small ski town of Park City, Utah. Martin’s parents began teaching him to ski at age 2, and by the time he was 6 he’d joined a local race team. After eight seasons of ski racing, Martin quit and joined a big-mountain freeride team at Alta Ski Area in Utah. This is where he grew passionate about BIM Mountain Freeride Skiing, the sport he competes in today.

In 2014, Martin won multiple events on the IFSA Junior Freeride Tour and was crowned North American Junior Champion. The following season in 2015, he earned multiple podiums and was the winner of Wrangle The Chute Open in Kicking Horse. These results earned him 2nd place overall in the North American Freeride World Qualifier standings and got him a coveted spot on the 2016 Freeride World Tour.

This season Martin has been traveling on the Freeride World Tour to events in Vallnord, Andorra and Chamonix, France and has an upcoming event in Fieberbrunn, Austria.

In addition to competing, Martin shoots photos and videos for sponsors, as well as personally produced edits. You can see a few of his videos here:

While Martin loves competing and filming, his favourite moments are just skiing the mountains with good friends and good vibes! His other hobbies include hiking, surfing and biking.
