Renowned sculptor and visual effects artist James Stewart hosted a portrait sculpting workshop at Quest on November 3. Stewart, who worked on films such as “Chronicles of Narnia,” “Harry Potter,” and “District 9,” walked participants through various sculpting techniques, helping to develop their skills and create a half-life portrait clay sculpture.

The workshop was free, thanks to a generous grant from TD Bank Group. The Ready Commitment, TD’s new global corporate citizenship platform, aimed at opening doors to a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow, recently helped expand Quest’s Artist-in-Residence program to offer shorter “mini-residencies” with public performances, visual art events, open studios and workshops for the public. TD wants to create shared experiences in arts and culture, uniting people to learn and grow as a community.

This was the second mini-residency with Stewart at Quest this year. On October 29, he hosted a two-hour workshop that taught participants how to create 3D printed art. The event was a big success, and registration quickly filled up with a waiting list.
