9 / SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
As summer approaches, Quest students are finalizing their summer plans, whether that involves traveling somewhere new, going home, working, or staying in Squamish. With so many opportunities awaiting them here, many students choose to stay put, applying for jobs and renting places in town. Summers in Squamish are very inviting—everybody is drawn to the rocks, mountain trails, the ocean, and beautiful lakes for whatever new adventure awaits them. Also, many special events, festivals, and the Farmer’s Market all start up again in the summer months.
Other students apply to stay on campus for the summer, working for the school, taking summer classes, or participating in the Quest Summer Research Fellowship Program (QSFP). QSFP allows students to take the lead on substantial, focused projects, working closely with a tutor (professor) of their choosing. Students can also help tutors with other research projects to gain experience, build a resume, and learn from someone they already know and to whom they feel connected with. Whatever students decide, Quest students are never short of opportunities to get involved in experiences that motivate and excite them during the summer months.
