Spinning Yarns: Knitting (and other art) as a Tool to Communicate Geological Science with Dr. Natalie Bursztyn

This talk discusses examples of creative projects that use various art forms, including painting, knitting and tactile models for the visually impaired to communicate geoscience concepts to a wide audience.

In science, particularly the geosciences, there are a great deal of models used that help learners visualize complex material. There is also a call for improved science communication in and out of the classroom.

Models are primarily visual, but can be physical, digital, or conceptual; verbal, gestural, or mathematical; but are all tools for communicating science concepts.
