James first came across Quest in 2012 while attending a presentation at his high school. Originally, he had planned to enlist in the Canadian Armed Forces and attend the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario. He fell in love with Quest’s unique academic model. What he enjoyed most about the university was the ability to design his own degree.
As a student, James was highly involved in Student Life. He served as Minister of Finance for the Students’ Representative Council, started the first campus radio station, and organized the annual Dancing Bear Music & Arts Festival on campus.
After living for a year in Quebec working as an English Language Teaching Assistant, he decided that he didn’t like snow as much as he thought. James returned to BC and happily began to work at Quest, where he is excited to share his experiences with prospective students.
Best thing about living in Squamish:
“Small-town feel, but close to the city when you need it. I love that Squamish has everything I need, but is so close to Vancouver that I can make a day trip for anything else. Oh! And the mountains. Those are pretty good, too!”
